Freshman Orientation Information
Freshman Orientation is a time when you will be given information about Appalachian’s academic requirements, general education courses, and many useful resources to help you become a knowledgeable and successful student. You will have time to learn more about your major or begin the process of exploring majors.
Orientation is a required 2-day program for freshmen. View Freshman Schedule.
Freshman Orientation Dates- May 28 and 29
- May 31 and June 1
- June 4 and 5
- June 11 and 12
- June 14 and 15
- June 18 and 19
- June 21 and 22
- June 25 and 26
- *Aug. 16-17
*The final session in August is offered only for students who cannot attend
Orientation over the summer. The August Orientation Session is slightly modified and will be posted here in July.
How to Register for Freshman Orientation
- You cannot register for Orientation until after you have secured your spot at Appalachian with your non-refundable Advanced Payment to our Admission's Office.
- Once you have paid your Advanced Payment, you will receive an email confirmation of payment with instructions on how to register for Orientation.
- You will be referred to your First Connections account to register. Once you have logged into First Connections, you will see a link in your enrollment checklist for Orientation Registration.
- Select one of the dates listed, complete the rest of the Orientation Registration form, and hit submit.
- After July 1st, you will need to contact the Orientation Office directly to register for Orientation (828-262-2167).
Change Your Orientation Date
Already registered for Orientation but need to change your date? Log back into your First Connections account and click on the Orientation Registration Form on the left side of the page. You can update any information including your orientation date and re-submit the form.
