Early Registration Advising (ERA)

What is the ERA Course? Early Registration Advising (ERA) is an online course focused on teaching you Appalachian's curriculum and how to use our web registration system in order to build your first semester class schedule.  The course is comprised of a series of short videos, informational guides and links to more in depth resources.     You are required to complete Early Registration Advising beginning in early April before you attend Orientation.  Allow yourself at least 30 minutes to review the course.  Don't worry - if don't finish it, you can always log back in later to complete it.    Here is how it works:
  1. Register for Orientation through your First Connections portal
  2. Already completed that step?  Great.  Beginning after April 2nd, log into the ERA course below.  You will need your AppalNet username and password.
  3. Complete the ERA course.
  4. Take the quiz at the end of the course.  A passing score of at least 70% is needed.
  5. Once you have passed the quiz and registered for orientation, you will receive an email to your AppalNet email account indicating when you will be able to access the web registration system to begin registering for classes.  You will be given a PIN (personal identification number) and additional registration details.
  6. Attend Orientation. Even though you will begin the course registration process through ERA, you must still attend your on-campus Orientation session.  If you fail to attend Orientation, your class schedule will be dropped.
Directions to Log into the ERA Course

Step 1. ERA Log In Here.  This page will open in a new browser window. You can keep this window open as you follow the remaining steps.

Step 2. Log in to this AsULearn course with your Appalachian username and password

Step 3. Once logged in, click on the "ERA" option under "My Courses" in the upper left corner.  Follow the link in the course material on era.appstate.edu and then complete the quiz in your AsULearn ERA course .

Change Your Orientation Date

Already registered for Orientation but need to change your date?  Log back into your First Connections account and click on the Orientation Registration Form on the left side of the page.  You can update any information including your orientation date and re-submit the form.
